More than 40-45 square kilometers have come under Azerbaijani control since November 10, 2020: Pashinyan

More than 40-45 square kilometers have come under Azerbaijani control since November 10, 2020. This refers to the infamous invasion of Armenian territory that occurred on May 12, as stated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during an online press conference.

“The international community condemned that invasion. This aggression must be eliminated. We must raise the fact of this aggression in all international forums and demand that international pressure be exerted on Azerbaijan,” Pashinyan said.

He also responded to accusations that the government is surrendering territory to the enemy. “If we were so easily giving up, we wouldn’t be facing such aggression from all sides towards our government. This is because we are trying to protect Armenia's interests in every possible way, and for that, we are facing attacks,” the Prime Minister stated.

Pashinyan also expressed his appreciation for the Azerbaijani President's decision to agree to establish direct communication between the defense ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan. “Previously, there has never been contact between the defense ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan; this is happening for the first time. It came about improvisationally when we were trying to understand what we could do regarding mutual accusations, who violated the ceasefire, and so on. The connection has been established, and the fact itself is commendable. I also appreciate the Azerbaijani President’s decision,” Pashinyan said, adding that time will show how effective it will be.
