Starting January 1, Russia Will Change Pension Distribution Rules
Starting January 1, 2022, Russia will change the rules for the distribution of pensions and the monitoring of their increments. This regulation has been previously approved by the Ministry of Labor, reports Lenta.ru.
In particular, pensions may be paid and distributed in areas where a state of emergency is declared, regardless of its nature—federal, interregional, regional, municipal, or local—before the current month. For this purpose, the pensioner must submit an application regarding the situation to the Pension Fund.
Senior citizens in Russia will also have the option to choose how they would like to receive their allocations. The new rules allow for retaining a certain amount in the case that a citizen has made more contributions than stipulated.
Those who received allocations from non-state pension funds that have ceased operations will still have their accumulated pension paid. To receive this, they must apply to the Russian Pension Fund.
Another key provision is that court deductions will not be applied to the pensions of senior citizens recognized as bankrupt. Additionally, the pension of a deceased person that was not collected during their lifetime can be claimed by their heirs, who must also apply to the Pension Fund for this purpose.
