We Must Prepare Not for a Dead 'Era of Peace,' but for the Inevitable Next Confrontation with the Enemy: Vardan Voskanyan

For years, we have been led to believe that peaceful coexistence with the enemy is possible, based on the overly simplified premise: 'If we concede this, peace will come.' This was noted by Iranian expert Vardan Voskanyan on his Facebook page. According to the expert, this perspective arises from a failure to properly recognize the enemy: 'The illusion of fitting into a comfort zone that does not exist in the Middle East is one we now see almost every day.'

'Unfortunately, even after enormous losses, we as a nation and state do not want to understand that such a comfort zone—where our ancestors' and our sacred land exists—has never been, is not now, and will not be in the foreseeable future. Therefore, we should prepare not for some dead 'era of peace,' but for the inevitable next confrontation with the enemy. To be prepared for this and to succeed, the first step must be the acknowledgment of this confrontation's inevitability, not the unrealistic and destructive mindset of 'If we concede this, peace will come,' he emphasized.
