Papikyan in Search of Personnel: Davtyan to be Replaced

The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" reports that the newly appointed Minister of Defense of Armenia, Suren Papikyan, who entered the defense department with the intention of taking control of the situation and making personnel changes, is currently searching for candidates.

According to "Zhoghovurd", there is a political decision to remove Artyak Davtyan, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, from his position. The newly appointed minister is currently taking his time, as there is no suitable candidate to replace the Chief of the General Staff.

For now, he is studying the personnel. The imperative to replace Davtyan stems from two reasons: first, the level of combat readiness and organization of the Armed Forces is unsatisfactory, for which Artyak Davtyan is directly responsible. Additionally, the Chief of the General Staff is involved in a corruption criminal case regarding arms sales that was initiated against Davit Galstyan, known as Davo, at the beginning of this year. As previously reported, his status as a witness in the case is likely to change to that of a defendant in the near future.

It is not excluded that Artyak Davtyan may even be detained soon. This is another reason why a political decision has been made to replace him.
