The Detention Period of the Syunik Governor's Son Will Not Be Extended
The detention period of Syunik Governor Melikset Poghosyan's son, Karen Poghosyan, will not be extended. This was stated by Vardan Tadevosyan, the spokesperson for the Investigative Committee, in an interview with NEWS.am.
“The Investigative Committee had submitted a motion to extend Karen Poghosyan's detention for two months, but the court did not grant it,” Tadevosyan informed.
On July 14, 2021, gunshots were heard at the intersection of Getapny and Garegin Nzhdeh Streets in the city of Goris, Syunik province, resulting in two individuals being hospitalized. Within the framework of the criminal case initiated regarding the incident, Karen Poghosyan has been charged with attempted murder and illegal possession of a weapon, and a search was announced for him.
After being on the run for about two months, the governor's son voluntarily presented himself to the Investigative Committee and was subsequently detained on September 24.
