Local Authorities Deliver Food to Village; Urals Used for Goris Trade as Bardzravan Faces Serious Issues
Alternative roads are under construction, and the builders are doing everything they can, with the expectation that gravel works will be completed by the end of the year. However, I have serious doubts because weather conditions say otherwise; it is planned that asphalt will be laid next year. This was stated in an interview with NEWS.am by Onik Avagyan, the head of Bardzravan community.
“Right now, it’s foggy, and there were light showers last night, which hinders the builders' work. The Ministry of Emergency Situations delivers bread to the village daily, there is no store, and we go to Goris for shopping using an Urals truck provided by our border guard forces. We have to adapt; when the alternative road is ready, we will need to travel 70 km instead of the previous 33 km to reach Goris,” said Avagyan.
He also noted that a resident receiving dialysis in Bardzravan has been transferred to Kapan. “It’s impossible to travel with ambulances; other patients who need to visit hospitals are likewise transported by off-road vehicles.”
It should be noted that starting November 11, the Azerbaijani side has been installing checkpoints along the Goris-Kapan highway. The villages of Bardzravan, Vorotan, and Shurnukh have found themselves under siege. An alternative road is being constructed.
