Have There Been Positional Losses in the Geghamasar Area? A Sotk Resident Reports

Tensions were also high yesterday in the Geghamasar community of the Gegharkunik region. The community leader reported that there was a build-up of personnel and equipment from the Azerbaijani side, and employees of the Sotk mine were evacuated around noon.

Sotk resident Sevak Khachatryan told "Pastinfo" that gunfire occurred from noon until around seven o'clock. "There was tension from noon yesterday until almost 6-7 PM. There were gunshots and exchanges of fire. After that, the situation calmed down somewhat and has remained so until now," he said.

Among the community residents, there are those who are always prepared to defend the country's territories. "We have people who are ready for action in any case and are waiting for orders to take action. It hasn't come to that yet, but people have come and said they are waiting for a call," Sevak Khachatryan noted.

He also mentioned that they do not have positional losses in the Geghamasar area. According to him, there are also Russian border guards in the disputed areas of the community, but he believes their presence is nominal.
