Radical Changes Expected in the Ministry of Defense and General Staff in the Coming Days: "Fact"
According to the "Fact" newspaper, "Yesterday, Defense Minister Arshak Karapetyan was dismissed from his position. He served just over three months. Throughout the day, various theories circulated regarding Karapetyan’s dismissal, including visits to Artsakh, refusal to issue a withdrawal order, and a new 'series' of the government's anti-Russian agenda.
By presidential decree, Deputy Prime Minister Suren Papikyan has been appointed as the new Defense Minister. According to governmental sources from the "Fact" newspaper, this matter is still developing, and changes will not end here.
Just the day before, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan reportedly reprimanded everyone, including the heads of law enforcement agencies, instructing them to strengthen oversight over the state apparatus significantly to avoid unnecessary "liabilities". Our sources indicate that radical changes are expected in both the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff in the coming days. It is also possible that changes will occur in other state structures.
Based on government sources, several reasons underlie Pashinyan’s behavior, which are not limited to the events that took place at the border the day before. Specifically, among other reasons, there is an attempt to designate "scapegoats" in the current situation and to distance himself from responsibility, as well as the consideration of forming a convenient and non-contentious arrangement ("rasklad") should written and oral agreements be reached in the near future, avoiding any potential issues.
