Bread, Cigarettes and Several Other Products Increase in Price Overnight
The "Past" newspaper reports: "While the enemy continues its encroachments on the borders of Armenia, the citizens of Armenia are facing new problems, particularly in the form of their pockets getting emptier day by day. According to the newspaper, on Sunday, people were taken by surprise, especially at 'Yerevan City', when they discovered that bread had increased in price by 20 drams overnight. During the weekend, cigarettes and several other products also saw price hikes. Yesterday, we received alerts that the chain of price increases has spread throughout the republic.
‘It is clear to everyone that in the absence of effective, significant, and priority economic policies for us, such inflation was inevitable. Unchecked inflation is primarily due to the very poor state of the economy, and at this moment, there is hardly a visible prospect of getting out of this situation,’ said economist Vardan Bostanjyan in a conversation with "Past".
He noted that, in fact, we have low incomes, a fairly high level of poverty, and rapid, unmanaged inflation. Accordingly, V. Bostanjyan did not rule out the possibility of social riots... In short, as they say, Pashinyan's promised future is coming with 'broad steps' in all directions—from security to social issues..."
