Armenia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Appeals to International Partners
Today, on November 16, Azerbaijani armed forces launched an attack in the eastern direction of the Republic of Armenia's border, invading the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia. These aggressive actions by the Azerbaijani side have resulted in human losses. This latest attack marks a continuation of Azerbaijan's persistent policy of occupying the territories of the Republic of Armenia, which began on May 12 of this year with the incursion of Azerbaijani armed forces into the Syunik and Gegharkunik regions.
Through these actions, Azerbaijan is also violating the trilateral statement of November 9, as the Azerbaijani side is carrying out attacks against the Republic of Armenia from the territories that were transferred to Azerbaijan as a result of the implementation of that statement.
The Republic of Armenia, in accordance with the UN Charter, is entitled to repel the use of force against its territorial integrity and sovereignty by all means necessary. We call on the international community and our international partners, including Russia, the CSTO, the co-chairmanship of the OSCE Minsk Group, and the co-chairing countries, to respond clearly and specifically to these actions by Azerbaijan that seriously threaten regional peace and security, and to take effective measures to prevent them and to ensure the unconditional and complete withdrawal of Azerbaijani armed forces from the territory of the Republic of Armenia.
