The People Must Rise and Throw Them Out; They Are Leading Our Country to Defeat – Ohanyan
It can logically be assumed that this is a continuation of ignorance and deliberate actions, said Seyran Ohanyan, the head of the "Armenia" faction and former Minister of Defense, in an interview with "Factinfo," referring to Suren Papikyan's appointment as Minister of Defense.
According to Seyran Ohanyan, this was yet another political appointment made based on the border situation. "I do not know Suren Papikyan's capabilities, but this was a political appointment. This appointment was made based on the situation and the border situation, and today the authorities should present the situation to our society and address the concerns that the people have. This political team has led the country into war and has reduced the army's strategy to a domestic level, only engaging in PR around the military. This political team did nothing during the war to back the army; moreover, the very ministry that Suren Papikyan led was obliged to carry out engineering and construction work to support the army but did not do so," Ohanyan told us.
When asked whether appointing someone inexperienced to such an important position was yet another step towards weakening the army, Seyran Ohanyan replied, "If that's the case, one can logically presume that this is both ignorance and a continuation of deliberate actions; if so, this is a crime against one's own people and own army. Everything is to be expected from them," said the MP.
According to the former Minister of Defense, this appointment also speaks to the personnel shortage that currently exists within the ruling political team. "A political team should have a large army of personnel from which it can carry out personnel changes. If it lacks such people within its own team, then it can include suitable people from any layer of our society or other political teams, but appointing people to important positions who have not gone through any pathways and who do not know what the system is or lack management experience—especially in the military and security sectors—is not correct," he stated.
At the end of the conversation, the former minister also emphasized, "The people must rise and throw them out; they are leading our country toward a series of defeats and the loss of sovereignty."
