The ruling party continues its bullying: 'Hraparak'
The newspaper 'Hraparak' reports: 'Although a coalition memorandum was signed yesterday between the 'Living Land' and 'Shant Alliance' parties in Tatev, which essentially clarified that the two forces in the community council now constitute a majority, the ruling Civil Contract Party (CPP) continues its bullying and attempts to seize the position of mayor. It should be reminded that no force in Tatev has an absolute majority, but thanks to the coalition, the CPP is now in opposition. By law, the acting head of the community appoints the first session of the council; however, the current mayor from the CPP, as well as the mayoral candidate, is not in a hurry to do so. Despite having already regretted their decisions and decided to take their mandates, just days ago they declared the opposite.'
'Shant Alliance' party founder Shahen Harutyunyan informed us yesterday that if a session is not appointed by next week, as the majority force in the council, they will demand that a session be called.
Interestingly, unlike Tatev, the 'Living Land' party found itself in an awkward situation in Meghri. We were told that despite the party's co-founder Mane Tandilyan initially accepting Aram Sargsyan's proposal, and being willing to form a coalition with the candidate from the 'Republic' party, Bagrat Zakaryan, and vote in favor of the mayor with their 2 mandates, the second candidate on 'Living Land's' list declared that he would only vote for the CPP candidate, and the collaboration was thwarted. Zakaryan has also formed a coalition with council members from Samvel Babayan's list.'
