Goris Deputy Mayor Transferred to Goris Prison, Detained

The Deputy Mayor of Goris, Menua Hovsepyan, has been at the Goris Penitentiary for the past hour. This was reported to the media by Hovsepyan's attorney, Armen Melkonyan.

“Menua Hovsepyan voluntarily presented himself to the Goris correctional facility, where he was detained,” stated Hovsepyan's lawyer.

He has been charged under Article 179, Part 3, Clause 1 of the RA Criminal Code (embezzlement or misappropriation through the abuse of official capacity, in especially large amounts) and Article 149.1, Part 2, Clauses 1 and 2 (coercing participation in pre-election campaigning using one's official position).
