How Will the Safety of Residents Traveling on the Goris-Kapan Road Be Ensured? - Human Rights Defender
Our soldiers have been subjected to brutal torture by representatives of the Azerbaijani State Border Service during the war, which implies that border control should be carried out on the Goris-Kapan road. This information comes from the Office of the Human Rights Defender.
This specifically refers to the atrocities that took place in Kovsakan in October 2020. A recently published report by the Armenian Human Rights Defender provides detailed evidence that people were tortured, unlawfully deprived of life, then tied to cars and dragged. All of this was photographed and filmed, and later, in full view of their faces (confident that they would not face punishment), they celebrated their 'victory' at the Tatul Krpeyan School in Kovsakan.
Are the high-ranking officials of the Republic of Armenia, who legitimize their presence and actions with their statements, aware that not a single representative of the Azerbaijani State Border Service has been held accountable?
In this context, how are they planning to guarantee the rights and safety of Armenian residents traveling the Goris-Kapan road?
I want to clearly emphasize once again that peace is a supreme value for us, but under no circumstances should people's rights be placed in the face of real and mass violations of rights—especially without guarantees.
