Tractor Driver Miraculously Survives Assault by Azerbaijani Automatic Gunfire, Says Khachik Community Leader
The Azerbaijani side is regularly targeting not only the peaceful residents of Artsakh but also the positions in Syunik and Gegharkunik. Just yesterday, they opened fire towards a border village in Vayots Dzor.
People here are astonished and perplexed as to why the Azerbaijani side has resorted to provocation; they are confused since such incidents had not occurred in recent decades.
Yesterday, gunfire was directed from Azerbaijani positions towards a farmer working in the fields in the village of Khachik. This was reported by Hoyik Smbatian, the administrative head of the Khachik community in the Vayots Dzor region, during an interview with Factinfo.
He added that the tractor driver miraculously escaped and was not injured. “He didn’t even understand or feel how it happened. They shot at the tractor, but he managed to flee. Nothing happened to him. He was working in our territory. Thank God, no one was harmed,” the village head said.
He also mentioned that the incident occurred in the afternoon of November 9. The enemy fired from an automatic weapon. The Azerbaijanis targeted a local resident, Tatul Asatryan, who was engaged in agricultural work in the communal pasture area. As a result of the gunfire, two windows of the tractor were shattered.
“We don’t know the reason. Such an incident had never happened before; this was the first time. I cannot say how far they were, but it was on our land,” the village head concluded.
