Russian Orthodox Church Opens in Artsakh
A ceremony for the opening of a Russian Orthodox church has taken place in a military unit near Stepanakert, as reported by Interfax.
Attending the solemn ceremony were the Deputy Commander of the Southern Military District Rustam Muradov and the Commander of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Artsakh, Genadi Anashkin.
“Unfortunately, Russian churches in Karabakh have not been preserved. They were all destroyed by the Bolsheviks during the Soviet years. In this regard, the construction of the Russian Orthodox Church of the Nativity of Christ takes on sacred, historical significance,” said Alexander Bodrov, a representative of the Russian community in Stepanakert, during the solemn ceremony.
