Only after delimitation and demarcation will it become clear where Armenia gains and where it loses, says Sanosyan

Only after delimitation and demarcation will it become clear where Armenia gains and where it loses, said Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Gnel Sanosyan in a conversation with journalists, referring to his earlier statement that the border delineation process could have painful consequences.

When asked which territories might fall outside Armenia's control, Sanosyan replied that he did not know. "If someone could provide a clear answer to that question, then why would we even be doing demarcation and delimitation? It means that there is no clear answer to that question," he said.

According to Sanosyan, only after delimitation and demarcation will it become clear where Armenia wins and where it loses. "Depending on which maps are used as a basis during the demarcation and delimitation, we will later see whether the decisions are painful or not, whether we gained in certain areas, or were affected, or not," he noted.

Sanosyan also expressed the opinion that Armenia cannot be the only party to suffer. Azerbaijan might also remain dissatisfied in some areas. "I simply mentioned that the phenomenon of demarcation and delimitation could be unfavorable for both sides in some areas. It could be unfavorable for us, or vice versa. This does not mean that it only pertains to us. But the fact is that it is necessary to clarify our borders, we need to live together peacefully, and I believe that this clarification of borders is also crucial to minimize border incidents as much as possible," he stated.
