Injured Artsakh Residents Undergo Surgery, Their Condition Assessed as Moderate

Russian peacekeepers stationed near Shushi have set up a water pipeline from Shushi to Stepanakert, approximately 7 km long, commissioned by the Ministry of Urban Development, to supply drinking water to their outposts. During the installation of utility poles for nighttime lighting on the Stepanakert-Shushi-Lisagor segment, the pipeline was damaged. Efforts to rectify the incident resulted in the death of one employee and injuries to three others.

“The utility workers were divided into two groups and came under enemy fire after working for an hour. Martik Yeremyan, 22, was killed on the spot, while Gevorg Melkumyan was injured. The other two injured, Gagik Ghazaryan and Armen Sargsyan, were employees of the same company conducting nighttime lighting work in the area, and they were transferred from the Republican Medical Center's intensive care unit to the hospital ward.

“Both required urgent surgical treatment, which was performed. One had a neck injury with arterial damage, while the other sustained a non-penetrating gunshot wound to the chest and a gunshot wound to the left forearm, with multiple fractures of the bone. Both underwent surgery, while the wound of the third injured person, who had a non-penetrating chest injury, was subjected to surgical processing. At this time, the patients' condition is assessed as moderate and they are in stable condition,” stated Grigori Arustamyan, head of the emergency department of the Republican Medical Center.

It is noteworthy that around 15:00 on November 8, Azerbaijani gunfire was directed at civilian personnel working on the water pipeline near a crossroads close to the city of Shushi, resulting in one death and three injuries.
