Concerns Rise Over Cholera Outbreak in Cameroon as Five Lives Lost
The authorities in Cameroon are expressing concerns over the onset of a cholera outbreak. Currently, almost all healthcare workers and resources are focused on fighting the coronavirus.
The African nation has reported an outbreak of cholera, with the disease claiming the lives of at least five individuals in the past two weeks. This information was provided by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in Cameroon.
According to the organization, the cholera outbreak has been recorded in the country’s southwest and central regions, with the disease diagnosed in 35 individuals.
It is worth noting that a cholera outbreak occurred last summer in the south of the country, where 12 people lost their lives in the fishing village of Longi.
