Azerbaijan Spreads False Information About Incident at Lake Sevan

The Azerbaijani side is spreading false information about the incident that occurred at Lake Sevan. Specifically, Azerbaijani media, citing the country's defense ministry, reported on the incident that took place the day before, claiming that dozens of servicemen were surrounded and then released.

The Azerbaijani defense ministry asserts that at noon on November 9, 60 Armenian servicemen approached Lake Sevan with two military trucks and blocked the road leading to Azerbaijani military positions using metal structures. They noted that additional personnel and military equipment were concentrated in the area, surrounding the 60 Armenian servicemen, who were supposedly released with the intervention of the Russian side.

Factinfo sought comments from the Minister of Defense, who stated that the circulated information regarding an altercation between Armenian and Azerbaijani soldiers in the Lake Sevan area of Syunik Province is absolutely false. The ministry also clarified that reports claiming Armenian soldiers were trapped are entirely untrue. The situation is stable and fully under the control of the Armenian Armed Forces.

Military personnel serving in the area told Factinfo that, in reality, it was the Azerbaijanis who had attempted to advance, which our forces prevented and curbed their ambitions. A few shots were fired, but there were no casualties or injuries on the Armenian side.
