6 Cities That Could Be Underwater by 2030: Indian Times
Due to climate change, Amsterdam is predicted to be the first city to submerge under water. Experts forecast that the city might be flooded as early as 2030. This information comes from Indian Times, based on a map by Climate Central, an organization that studies climate issues.
Experts have also indicated that two other cities in the Netherlands, located in the so-called 'low-lying country', are at risk of a potential disaster: Rotterdam and The Hague.
The second city on the list is Basra in Iraq, situated on the Shatt al-Arab river that flows into the Persian Gulf.
Next is New Orleans in the United States, located on the Mississippi River. According to the report, the city is threatened by flooding, despite having a developed drainage canal system.
In fourth place is Venice, where the ground level is sinking by two millimeters every year.
In fifth place is Ho Chi Minh City, the largest city in Vietnam.
Finally, in sixth place is Kolkata in India. According to the publication, this city could also be submerged by 2030.
