US Official to Visit Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia

Erica Olson, the newly appointed Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasia, will visit Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia to promote regional cooperation and discuss bilateral issues. The US Embassy in Armenia reports that during her stay in Yerevan, Deputy Assistant Secretary Olson will participate in the conference of heads of US missions in the South Caucasus region from November 2-4.

The conference will include US Ambassador to Armenia Len Trahan, US Ambassador to Georgia Kelly Degnan, US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Lee Litzenberger, as well as Principal Adviser on Caucasus Negotiations Andrew Schofer and Deputy Director of the Washington Office of the US Agency for International Development Alexander Sokolovsky. We are pleased to restore this long-standing tradition of gathering with our partners in the region and the capital Washington to exchange thoughts, ideas, and present information that will allow us to better coordinate our policies concerning all three countries in the region.

In addition to internal discussions, conference participants will also meet with representatives of the Armenian government and civil society. Previous conferences of heads of US missions in the South Caucasus took place in Baku (2019) and Tbilisi (2018).
