Armenia Becomes World Leader in COVID Deaths; Ioannisian Accuses Anahit Avanesyan
Daniel Ioannisian, coordinator of the IKM programs, writes on his Facebook page: "Armenia has become the world leader in terms of COVID deaths per capita. Yesterday, Armenia recorded the highest number of deaths from coronavirus relative to its population. In other words, no other country has seen as many people die from COVID as Armenia did yesterday.
Yesterday, 62 people died from the virus, while last month, the infection claimed the lives of over 1000 individuals in Armenia. All of this is a result of the very poor organization of the vaccination process and its public communication. People spend hours trying to find information about where to get vaccinated. Very few are willing to spend a day searching for a vaccination site and navigating through the queues.
This is also due to the lack of proper communication to the public regarding vaccines and the ineptitude exhibited by the Government's public relations agency. All of this stems from the incompetence of the Minister of Health and her disgracefully poor public messaging (Anahit Avanesyan speaks so poorly on the subject that even those who are positively inclined towards vaccination are having second thoughts).
Of course, we must not forget that the Minister of Health and the head of the public agency are appointed by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, thus sharing in the responsibility.
P.S. There are opponents of vaccination in almost all countries, but this disgraceful record was achieved right here in Armenia."
