Woman Attempts to Jump from Bridge; Police Prevent Suicide

According to Shamshyan.com, on November 1, while on duty, officers from the Yerevan battalion of the Armenian Police's patrol service were alerted by civilians while crossing the Davitashen bridge. They were informed that a woman had crossed the bridge's dangerous edge and was threatening to jump.

Commander Gevorg Torosyan of the 3rd platoon of the 1st company of the patrol service, along with senior officers Avetik Petrosyan and Kristine Mikayelyan, were able to engage the woman in a psychologically supportive conversation, resulting in her reconsidering her intentions.

The reasons for her distress were personal and social in nature. The police subsequently accompanied the woman to the police station in Mashtots. She has been identified as Sofia P., a resident of Yerevan. The incident occurred around 4:30 PM.
