Rogue Drivers Find Ways to Collect Points from Various Sources: Andranik Kocharyan to Deputy Police Chief

National Assembly member from the 'Civil Contract' faction Andranik Kocharyan recalled that a point system for traffic regulation was introduced, which had initially been met with enthusiasm. "Can you assess what results this system has brought us? In the beginning, it seemed good, but it appears that our rogue drivers have found ways to collect points from various sources—through their spouses, friends. How are we supposed to combat this?" Kocharyan asked Deputy Police Chief Ara Fidanyan.

He emphasized that if no solution has been found to counter this issue, they should quickly prepare legislative proposals. The deputy police chief responded that the point system has had a significant impact on its effectiveness; however, there has been an increase in traffic accidents. "At this moment, the point system operates exclusively based on violations recorded by technical means, and as we know, most technical devices are concentrated in Yerevan. Therefore, the number of casualties resulting from traffic accidents in Yerevan is lower than in the regions. Thus, the point system has demonstrated its effectiveness," noted the Deputy Police Chief of Armenia.
