Famous Tiramisu Creator Dies in Italy

Ado Campeol, a restaurateur known as the creator of the famous Italian dessert Tiramisu, has passed away at the age of 93 in Italy. This was reported by the newspaper Il Messaggero.

Campeol owned Le Beccherie restaurant in Treviso. The renowned dessert was invented by Campeol's wife, Alba Di Pilon, and the restaurant's chef, Roberto Linguanoto, in the late 1960s.

The creation of Tiramisu was accidental. The chef was preparing vanilla ice cream when a bit of mascarpone ended up in the mixture of eggs and sugar. He enjoyed the resulting flavor and shared it with the restaurateur's wife.

Later, the couple refined the dessert by adding coffee-soaked ladyfingers and a sprinkling of cocoa on top.
