MP Nazeli Baghdasaryan to be Appointed as Shirak Governor Soon
The newspaper 'Zhoghovurd' reports that National Assembly representative from the 'Civil Contract' faction, Nazeli Baghdasaryan, is set to be appointed as the governor of Shirak province soon.
Sources informed 'Zhoghovurd' that a discussion regarding a change in the governor's position took place at Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's office, suggesting a replacement for the current governor Hovhannes Harutyunyan, who suffered a defeat in the Gyumri municipal elections, with Baghdasaryan.
However, in a conversation with us, MP Baghdasaryan mentioned that she is not familiar with the discussions regarding the governor's change. "The question of the governor's dismissal or change is being discussed in the Prime Minister's staff, and such discussions are not known to me. I am only aware that Hovhannes Harutyunyan has resigned from his council mandate," she stated.
Regarding cooperation with Harutyunyan, Baghdasaryan noted that the collaboration between the MP and the governor had been successful. "Mr. Harutyunyan worked while maintaining our political line and was quite principled in making decisions," added the secretary of the CP faction.
It should be noted that discussions about replacing Governor Harutyunyan were held immediately after the municipal elections in Gyumri.
In a conversation with 'Zhoghovurd', MP Hovik Aghazaryan expressed that the election results are already a certain indicator to analyze and understand the governor's activities. And if he did not succeed in the elections, that signifies something already.
