Azerbaijani AZAL Pays for Flights Through Armenian Airspace: Civil Aviation Committee
The Azerbaijani airline AZAL pays Armenia for the use of its airspace. This was stated by the Civil Aviation Committee of Armenia in response to a request from Sputnik Armenia.
According to the report, "All airlines operating flights through the airspace of the Republic of Armenia, including AZAL, pay for aeronautical navigation services."
When asked how much the airline pays, the Civil Aviation Committee indicated that the amount depends on several factors, particularly the aircraft's flight weight, the route and time of the flight through Armenian airspace, as well as the size of the charges for air routes. The rates are uniform for all carriers regardless of their national affiliation.
It is noteworthy that the Azerbaijani airline started using Armenia's airspace for passenger flights to Baku and Nakhchivan from October 6.
