24 People Sentenced to Death in Syria for Wildfires
In Syria, 24 individuals have been sentenced to death for causing wildfires in 2020, having been found guilty of deliberate arson. This was reported on Friday, October 22, by the BBC, citing the Syrian Ministry of Justice.
Additionally, 11 other individuals have received life sentences. Nine more people, including five minors, have been sentenced to between 10 and 12 years in prison.
It is noteworthy that those sentenced to death were among dozens arrested at the end of 2020, who confessed to planning the fires starting from August 2020.
