VIDEO: 53-Year-Old Employee Sets Fire to Farm in Vayk, Causing 14 Million Dram Damage

On October 10, at 22:35, a report was received from the Vayk Fire and Rescue Squad of the Ministry of Emergency Situations about a haystack burning in the village of Arin. This information was confirmed by the Armenian police.

An operational group from the Vayk police department determined that as a result of the fire, eight thousand hay bales were completely burned and smoked, ten fruit trees were thermally damaged, and parts of the barn structure were partially burned, leading to damages exceeding 14 million drams for the owner.

According to the materials prepared by the Fire and Technical Safety Investigation Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, it was established that the hay bales were set on fire intentionally.

On October 12, a criminal case was initiated at the Vayots Dzor regional prosecutor's office. During ensuing operational and investigative measures, Vayk detectives received reliable information indicating that the arson was committed by a 53-year-old woman who worked as a laborer on the farm and lived in the same village, motivated by personal reasons. She has been presented to the Vayots Dzor regional investigative department, where she provided a confession. The investigation is ongoing to clarify the circumstances.
