Michel Sarian on Non-Functioning Medical Equipment Donated to Armenia
The President of Prime Healthcare and Armenian-American philanthropist Michel Sarian has made a new post regarding the medical equipment donated to Armenia.
“You be the judge!!! We provided this huge support of medical equipment to help our nation and our people: We even prepared a beautiful video with a patriotic song because we were very excited to help Armenia.
Our Biomedical Engineering department inspected each item before shipping and certified that it was in good condition and usable in hospitals!!! If it is good for American hospitals, which are the best in the world, then it is good everywhere, including in Armenia!!!” Sarian wrote, sharing a video of the equipment sent to Armenia.
Recall that days ago, Sarian mentioned that he had sent over $15 million worth of medical equipment and supplies to both the Ministries of Health and Defense during the past two years.
“Now I have learned that the Minister of Defense has sold and pocketed valuable equipment donated to Armenia that was intended for soldiers who sustained burns. It was sold outside the country for $700,000, and the money has been pocketed,” Sarian wrote.
In response to media inquiries, the Ministry of Health stated that some of the equipment has been distributed to healthcare facilities, while some were deemed unusable and a process for disposal and further alienation has been initiated in accordance with all existing regulations.
The Ministry of Defense has also reported that the usable equipment among the lot of donated medical equipment has been distributed to both military and civilian healthcare facilities, while some items are unfit for use due to wear and tear or technical malfunction; efforts are being made to repair them, and if repair is not possible, a disposal procedure is underway.
