One of the Areas in the Heart of Paris Named After Armenia

The Embassy of Armenia in France has issued a press release stating: “Yesterday evening, the Paris City Council adopted an important decision, once again affirming the unwavering friendship between Paris and Armenia and the strength of the special Armenian-French relations. By unanimous decision, one of the areas in the heart of Paris, located between the Alma and Invalides bridges and adjacent to the Seine River, has been named after Armenia, receiving the title Esplanade d'Arménie.

The Esplanade of Armenia will be included in the official register of Paris addresses and will encompass a spacious area that includes the statue of Komitas Vardapet, unveiled in 2004, and the Yerevan Garden, inaugurated in 2009.

We express our gratitude to the Paris City Council, led by Mayor Anne Hidalgo, for this significant initiative and the adopted decision, as well as to Deputy Mayor Arnaud Ngatcha for authoring the decision's draft. The Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia in France was also invited to attend this symbolic session of the council.”
