KP Candidate for the Community Head of Tegh Is Hospitalized After Heart Attack

The newspaper "Hraparak" reports that yesterday we received information that Davit Ghulunts, the candidate for the position of community head from the "Civil Contract" party in Tegh, Syunik province, has suffered a heart attack and has been hospitalized. He is the nephew of regional governor Melikset Poghosyan, who has now taken on the entire burden of the campaign.

We spoke with Ghulunts, who responded with a rather weak voice, asking us not to disturb him. "I’m fine, it’s nothing," he said, not wanting to elaborate on whether he is currently in the hospital or has already been discharged.

When asked how he envisions the future struggle and whether it’s possible he might withdraw early from the electoral race, he replied, "We have good opinions, but we’ll see... I am taking part in the struggle; I will do everything."

Later, Aram Mirzoyan, the second on the KP list for Tegh community, stated that the candidate did not suffer a heart attack, but rather contracted COVID. When we told him that Ghulunts did not deny our direct inquiry, he said, "He wasn't able to talk for long." We objected that he spoke quite a bit, even stating he would continue the struggle and would not withdraw.

Then Ghulunts' brother called us and literally threatened us, urging us to remove the article. Shortly thereafter, Ghulunts himself contacted us and said he is not sick with COVID; he has merely caught a cold and has pneumonia. He went on to express anger, saying, "You probably don't understand; you are clueless. Does catching a cold have anything to do with a heart attack? You suffer from a heart attack yourselves!"
