Over 90,000 Displaced from Artsakh, 88% are Women and Children, Says Migration Service Chief

The head of the Migration Service, Armen Ghazaryan, participated today in the international dialogue on migration organized by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), focusing on the theme: "Responding to Crises in the Context of COVID-19."

In his speech, Ghazaryan addressed the global situation created by the pandemic and its impact on migration processes. He also highlighted the challenges posed by last year’s war initiated by Azerbaijan, emphasizing its severe consequences. He noted that over 90,000 individuals have been displaced from Artsakh, specifying that 88% of them are women and children.

“In conclusion, I want to state that the government of Armenia has done everything possible to support the displaced and vulnerable populations in the context of COVID-19. In overcoming this difficult situation, we also rely on international solidarity and mutual support,” Ghazaryan wrote on his Facebook page.
