What to Do Before Entering Georgia: Clarifications

Citizens of the Republic of Armenia can enter Georgia through the Bagratashen-Sadakhlo and Bavra-Ninotsminda border checkpoints. These checkpoints operate daily from 10:00 AM to 12:00 AM, according to the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Georgia.

All foreign citizens must fill out an online application at least one hour before entering Georgia (https://registration.gov.ge/.../8_protocol_for.../tk6157/). The application must include the following information about the traveler in either Georgian or English (for family members traveling together, a separate application must be completed for each individual, regardless of age):

  • Name
  • Surname
  • Passport number
  • Phone number
  • Email address (a digital code will be sent to this email address after completing the application, which must be presented at the Georgian border checkpoint)
  • Citizenship
  • Country of residence
  • Place of residence in Georgia (home address, hotel, etc.; transiting passengers write “TRANSIT” in the residence address field)

Children under 10 entering Georgia are exempt from presenting a PCR test at the border checkpoint, as well as the requirement to take another PCR test within 72 hours after crossing the border.

For children under 6 years, including those who are 11 months and 29 days old, a negative test result or vaccination certificate is not required when entering the Republic of Armenia.

Unvaccinated Armenian citizens or those who have not completed their vaccination course against COVID-19 can enter Georgia under the following conditions:

  1. The citizen presents a paper-based negative PCR test result, not older than 72 hours, at the border checkpoint.
  2. After crossing the Georgian border, the citizen must take another PCR test within 72 hours, otherwise, a fine of 2000 Georgian Lari will be imposed.
  3. During their stay in Georgia, citizens can call the Georgian government hotline at 144 between 9:00 AM and 9:00 PM to request a message with the addresses and phone numbers of nearby COVID-19 testing laboratories.
  4. If the citizen stays in Georgia for less than 72 hours (calculated from the moment of entry through terrestrial or aerial border checkpoints until exiting through the same), they are exempt from the requirement to take a PCR test within 72 hours.

Unvaccinated foreign citizens entering the Republic of Armenia must present a paper-based negative PCR test result at the border checkpoint or, in the absence of a test, must take a PCR test at the Bagratashen or Bavra border checkpoints and proceed to their dwelling (home or hotel) for mandatory self-isolation until they receive a negative result from the PCR test within a maximum of 48 hours. The results of the PCR tests are registered in the ARMED system and provided to the tested individual no later than 48 hours.

Citizens of the Republic of Armenia, as well as their family members who are not citizens of the Republic of Armenia, will undergo mandatory hospitalization or isolation upon entering Armenia, if they refuse to undergo PCR testing at the border checkpoint and do not complete the vaccination course against COVID-19.

Citizens of the Republic of Armenia who have completely completed their vaccination course against COVID-19 can enter Georgia by the following conditions:

  1. The citizen presents a negative PCR test result at the border checkpoint, not older than 72 hours.
  2. The citizen also presents a certificate confirming their complete vaccination against COVID-19 in accordance with the established dosage of the relevant vaccine (currently all vaccines offered by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia are acceptable in Georgia).
  3. Citizens arriving in Georgia by air must present only the certificate confirming their complete vaccination against COVID-19.

Citizens who have presented a certificate confirming full vaccination against COVID-19 at the border checkpoint will be exempt from taking another test within 72 hours after entering the country.

Citizens of the Republic of Armenia and foreign citizens who have completed their full vaccination course against COVID-19 are exempt from taking a PCR test when entering the Republic of Armenia, provided they present a certificate confirming their full vaccination either in paper or electronic form at the border checkpoint that meets all requirements of the relevant vaccine.

Documents for PCR test results must be presented in Russian or English, including contact details and the name of the head of the medical organization conducting the test, as well as the name and surname of the tested individual, personal identification number, date of birth, test results, and sampling date and time, signed by the head of the organization with the official stamp.

The vaccination certificate must also be presented in Russian or English, including the name of the head of the vaccination organization, as well as the name and surname of the vaccinated individual, identification number, date of birth, product name of the vaccine, lot number, and inoculation dates of each dose, signed by the head of the organization, and may also contain a QR code for verification.
