Notable Document in the Case of Aghvan Hovsepyan at the Special Investigation Service
The daily newspaper "Zhoghovurd" reports: On October 8, a month has passed since the former Prosecutor General of Armenia, former head of the Investigative Committee, Aghvan Hovsepyan, was arrested by the Special Investigation Service and is currently held in the "Center" penitentiary in Yerevan, commonly known as the "KGB basement." How did the events unfold?
Interesting details have emerged for "Zhoghovurd" regarding the circumstances under which Aghvan Hovsepyan's close friends decided to turn against him, and what notable document exists in the Special Investigation Service. According to our sources at the SIS, the business relationship between Aghvan Hovsepyan's son, Misak Hovsepyan, and Arshavir Sargsyan has soured after Aghvan Hovsepyan resigned from the Prosecutor General's office in 2013. In other words, without a position, there is no friendship.
According to our sources in law enforcement, Arshavir Sargsyan and Aghvan Hovsepyan's son had a joint business in the hydroelectric power sector, operating the "Surb Aghbyur" and "Vardahovit" LLCs. In 2013, the company was unable to meet its banking obligations and became involved with other creditors. Upon learning that the company had unpaid banking obligations, Aghvan Hovsepyan and his son tried to contact the company but to no avail.
Later, with no other options left, Arshavir Sargsyan informed Aghvan Hovsepyan's son that there was approximately a $4.1 million credit obligation, and according to the version being investigated by law enforcement, due to internal confusion, Aghvan Hovsepyan's son takes on the $4.1 million credit obligation that was not fulfilled by Arshavir Sargsyan.
A corresponding agreement was signed between Arshavir Sargsyan and Aghvan Hovsepyan's son in the presence of a bank representative, which is attached to the criminal case currently being investigated by the SIS, detailing what the parties need to do to reach an agreement.
It is likely that the SIS should invite the bank manager for questioning, who may present significant evidence in the criminal case.
