Aliyev Calls Claims of Israeli Involvement with Iran's Officials 'Nonsense'

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has stated that Baku denies claims regarding Israeli involvement in Nagorno-Karabakh, located near the Iranian border. In an interview with the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, Aliyev referred to such statements as 'nonsense' and an attempt to discredit Azerbaijan in the eyes of Iranian society.

According to RIA Novosti, Iranian authorities suspect that Azerbaijan is closely cooperating with Israel. Iran has accused Israel of attempting to approach its borders through Azerbaijan, seeking to exploit the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and incite conflict between Baku and Tehran.

"We reject all accusations against Azerbaijan regarding the alleged invitation of Israel to liberated territories. This is nonsense. It is merely a pretext to discredit Azerbaijan for internal public consumption. Anyone can go and see that there is no life there. Everything is destroyed. Secondly, we demand to be respected as we respect others," said Aliyev.

Thus, Aliyev contradicts himself. Earlier, the President of Azerbaijan proudly reported the involvement of numerous companies from around the world in the reclamation of territories. And now, all of a sudden, he states that anyone who wishes can go and see that there is no life there. It seems Baku has something to hide.
