18+. VIDEO: Father Taken into Custody by Police in Front of Children

Ara Zohrapyan wrote on his Facebook page: Below, we see videos of police officers using brute force, along with a commanding officer cursing and yelling orders, and children in tears terrified by the police actions. If this type of police officer is not cleansed from the system and not severely punished, then the entire institution of police cannot earn the trust of the public, despite the presence of conscientious officers.

According to Article 3 of the Law on the Police, the activities of the police are based on lawfulness, respect for the rights and freedoms of individuals, honor, and dignity, as well as principles of humanitarianism and transparency. In this incident, there was no respect for individual rights, freedoms, and dignity; humanitarian principles were completely absent. Regardless of whether the police's intention was lawful or not (according to the lawyer's claims it was not, as the administrative act was being contested), the police should have governed themselves by the aforementioned principles.

As a citizen of the Republic of Armenia, I CALL on the Chief of the Police of the Republic of Armenia and the Head of the Special Investigative Service of the Republic of Armenia to make this incident an object of investigation and to address the accountability of the police officers involved.
