Action Movie-Like Incident in Kotayk Region: Shots Fired at Pursuing Officers in Arzni Village

On October 1, an action movie-like chase occurred in the Kotayk region, during which mutual gunfire was exchanged. According to Shamshyan.com, law enforcement conducted an operation aimed at locating and arresting a suspect, wanted for a particularly serious crime, who was on the run.

According to G. Shamshyan, during the operation, police ambushed a suspected serious criminal they were searching for in the village of Arzni. At around midnight, the suspect approached the ambush site in a Mercedes vehicle with the license plate 70 RA 700. The police urged him to stop the car; however, he did not comply with the legal demand to 'halt' and drove the Mercedes towards the officers while firing shots at them before fleeing the scene.

G. Shamshyan reports that the police continued to chase the fleeing Mercedes, firing at the vehicle's tires. However, after a few kilometers of pursuit, the Mercedes escaped through rocky paths of summer houses and then abandoned the car in an open field before fleeing on foot. A criminal case has been initiated under Article 34-104 and part 1 of Article 235 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. The vehicle has been moved to the special detention area of the Kotayk police department.
