Will the State Stop Covering the Costs for Unvaccinated Patients from December?
The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" reports: "As we informed a few days ago, the government is making significant efforts to increase the number of vaccinations against the coronavirus. The rise in deaths due to the pandemic in Armenia and the insufficient number of vaccinations are prompting the authorities to take more drastic measures.
According to information from the newspaper, active discussions are underway in the government regarding a decision to no longer cover the treatment costs for citizens infected with the coronavirus who are unvaccinated. Under this decision, the state will only cover the treatment costs for vaccinated citizens if they happen to get infected and end up in the hospital, while unvaccinated citizens who find themselves hospitalized after contracting the virus will have to pay for their medical expenses out of pocket.
Moreover, according to our information, the costs of hospital treatment for the coronavirus range from 700,000 to 1.5 million drams. Incidentally, the government intends to implement this decision starting from December. Essentially, in about a month, the government will leave unvaccinated citizens, who are already in a difficult economic situation due to the aftermath of the war and the pandemic, to fight the pandemic on their own.
This means that if you are not vaccinated, there will be no support from the state in case of contracting the coronavirus; you will have to face the battle against the pandemic alone and cover all expenses from your own pocket." More details are available in today’s edition of the newspaper.
