Turkey Builds Security Wall on Iran Border
Construction of a 20-kilometer section of the security wall being built on the border between Turkey's Şaldıran district and Iran has been completed. This was announced by Van Governor Mehmet Emin Bilmez, who noted that the security wall will be 64 kilometers long and will be built in three phases, according to ermenihaber.am.
The governor stated that as a result of the measures taken on the Turkey-Iran border, the number of refugees entering the country has decreased. “As a result of security measures, the number of refugees has significantly decreased. This year, thanks to our intelligence operations, 1,290 organizers have been arrested. Half of them have been imprisoned,” he emphasized.
Bilmez also highlighted that patrol services are being carried out on Lake Van, as the lake is one of the main routes for refugees entering Turkey illegally.
