The Azerbaijani Police Post on the Goris-Kapan Road Segment Is Not Within the Territory of the Republic of Armenia, Vahe Ghalumyan
The Azerbaijani police post on the Goris-Kapan road segment is not within the territory of the Republic of Armenia. This was stated by Vahe Ghalumyan, a member of the ruling Civil Contract faction in the National Assembly, during a briefing with reporters.
When asked where the post is located, the governmental MP responded, "How should I know where it is located... this road, I remind you again, passes through Azerbaijani borders and territory in several places."
When asked if he acknowledges the claims of the Azerbaijani side, Ghalumyan replied that it is not him who acknowledges it, but the maps that indicate it as such. According to the MP, several sections of the 21 km-long Goris-Kapan road are in Azerbaijani territory.
When asked when he last traveled the Goris-Kapan road, the MP replied that it was in June, and he felt safe. Regarding how it happened that two citizens of the RA found themselves in a section under Azerbaijani control, Ghalumyan commented, "Border issues have always existed. If there is no demarcation or delimitation, these issues will persist."
