Iran Again Comments on Azerbaijan's Actions
The spokesperson of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Saeed Khatibzadeh, has urged Azerbaijan not to allow third countries to use its territories and borders. According to the Tasnim news agency, this was stated by the Foreign Ministry representative during a press briefing on Monday.
“Iran knows well how to safeguard its security, but it would be wise for Azerbaijan to uphold its obligations concerning its sovereignty. Tehran has good relations with both Baku and Yerevan. Iran's relationship with one country does not contradict its relations with other countries,” Khatibzadeh added.
Referring to the detention of Iranian drivers by Azerbaijan, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson emphasized: “Such treatment of Iranian drivers does not align with the principles of friendly neighborhood.”
“Azerbaijani officials need to be more cautious regarding the treatment of Iranian citizens by their border guards,” the diplomat noted.
It should be reminded that Azerbaijan has blocked traffic on two sections of the Goris-Kapan road and detained two Iranian drivers transporting goods along that route.
