Clear Steps are Being Taken: Aliyev Discusses New Plans
The President of Azerbaijan has announced plans to construct new reservoirs in the "Nagorno-Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur economic regions."
“Clear steps are being taken, and a very serious program is being implemented for the effective use of water resources in our liberated territories, specifically in the Eastern Zangezur and Nagorno-Karabakh economic regions. All maps of water sources have already been created, and the construction of new reservoirs is on the agenda,” Aliyev stated during his visit to the Terter region, as reported by the Azerbaijani service of Interfax.
Following the 44-day war, a significant portion of Nagorno-Karabakh's water resources—estimated to be 22 out of 24 reservoirs—has come under Azerbaijani control. However, the largest reservoir, the Sarsang reservoir, remains under the control of Stepanakert.
