10-Year-Old Child Infected with Coronavirus Dies in Yerevan

The Mediaport news agency reports that a 10-year-old child infected with coronavirus has died in Yerevan. The incident occurred three days ago at the Arabkir Medical Center. This marks the second case of a child's death due to coronavirus in Armenia.

According to Sergey Sargsyan, the chief pediatrician of the Ministry of Health, the child was admitted to the Arabkir Medical Center in a diabetic coma due to complications from diabetes. “The child was admitted in a diabetic coma, developing rapidly with type 1 diabetes,” said Sargsyan.

Prior to arriving at Arabkir, the parents had first approached the Holy Mother of God Medical Center on September 22. The child's condition was already critical. Anna Chobanyan, head of the intensive care unit at the center, detailed that investigations were conducted, and on the same day, diabetes was confirmed for the first time in the child's life. “All tests were performed immediately, and diabetes was detected for the first time in his life. He was in very poor condition, and we immediately saw that he had very high sugar levels,” Chobanyan explained.
