64,076 Passengers Departed from Armenia by Air and Did Not Return

The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" reports that according to the results from January to August of this year, 64,076 passengers left Armenia by plane and did not return. The newspaper obtained this information from the Armenian Government’s Civil Aviation Committee, which stated that 701,750 passengers departed from Zvartnots Airport during the same period, while 653,697 arrived, indicating that 48,053 citizens did not return.

From Shirak Airport, 42,141 passengers left in the first eight months of this year, with only 26,118 returning, resulting in a shortfall of 16,023 passengers. It is worth mentioning that the count of those who departed and did not return does not fully reflect the picture of emigration, as many citizens prefer to travel by land. If this route were to be fully opened, the number would increase several times.

On the other hand, it should be noted that Shirak Airport in Gyumri was not operational from July 15 to September 15. "Zhoghovurd" had previously reported that the airport is effectively closed for renovations and will serve military purposes in the future, including accommodating military aircraft. It is now operational, and this figure is expected to change soon.
