VIDEO: Hayko is a living type. Friends and relatives said their final goodbyes to Hayk Hakobyan

Remarkable composer, wonderful person, outstanding artist: This is how friends, relatives, colleagues, and fans remember singer-songwriter, Honored Artist of Armenia Hayko (Hayk Hakobyan), whose funeral ceremony took place on September 30 at the Church of St. John in Kond.

Musician, songwriter, and Honored Artist of Armenia Ara Gevorgyan stated that Hayko created a unique style with his noble art and pure singing and remained loyal to his craft. “He had a large army of admirers who followed Hayko. He was a very good person, always wishing well to everyone. He had a lot of love within him. It is no coincidence that love occupied a significant place in his songs. Hayko will remain in our memory with wonderful, pure music and songs. What he did was noble, and it deserves the highest praise,” emphasized Ara Gevorgyan, adding that Hayko was a bright color, a unique creator whose absence cannot be filled by anyone.

Screenwriter and presenter Artyom Markosyan mentioned that the post-Soviet generation was indeed sincere since there was no internet or social media, and everything developed naturally. “Hayko was a bright representative of that generation, and every song of his is unique. He created very interesting and tasteful works. I cannot single out one piece; they are all good. When you love Hayko's art, you love it fully,” Markosyan noted.

“Hayko is a living type. I can't say to what extent, but he made us kinder to each other. We are used to losing people and appreciating them in due time. We have been good friends with Hayko, celebrating various occasions together. Today we are very broken. I am trying to find the right words, but it's difficult,” confessed singer and Honored Artist of Armenia Aram.

He recalled that today Hayko's songs are played in Republic Square and metro stations. “This speaks to Hayko's value. I believe time will pass, and we will realize his worth even more,” concluded Aram.

Hayko passed away on September 29. He had been battling COVID-19 in the hospital for about a week.
