Resident of Ejmiadzin Accuses Former Mayor Hrachik Abgaryan of Embezzling $6,000
A resident of Ejmiadzin, Raphael M., has filed a complaint with the police accusing former mayor Hrachik Abgaryan of fraud. According to Aravot.am, Raphael M. reported to the Ejmiadzin police on September 29 that he had given $6,000 to Hrachik Abgaryan in May 2020, based on a preliminary agreement to purchase a 1.5-hectare plot of land located in an area known as 'Matur'. The money was supposed to be handed over to Abgaryan's son, Alik Abgaryan, to facilitate the sale of the property; however, on August 11, 2021, it became apparent that they had sold the specified land to another person and deceitfully kept his money.
In an interview with Aravot.am, Hrachik Abgaryan stated that the disputed land actually belongs to his son's mother-in-law, who sold it. Raphael also wished to purchase the land, but it was sold to someone else. He said, 'It’s an issue of some kind of machination. The land was sold ten years ago, how did this guy just now figure it out? It's nonsense.'
