Government MPs Surprised by Alen Simonyan's Decision
The "Zhoghovurd" newspaper reports that the President of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, has made a surprising decision for the representatives of the ruling party. The matter is that Valentina Matvienko, the chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, invited Alen Simonyan to Russia, and he, of course, accepted the invitation and intends to travel to Moscow with a large delegation of ruling party members.
Included in the delegation are even representatives who have done nothing to warm Armenian-Russian relations, such as the well-known anti-Russian MP Tzovinar Vardanyan, and those who have not engaged in any 'business' regarding the warming of Russian relations like Arusyak Julakhyan, Andranik Kocharyan, and former journalist-MPs Sisak Gabrielyan and Arthur Hovhannisyan.
It is also possible that the MP from the ruling party, Vladimir Vardanyan, will be included in the delegation. Sources from the "Zhoghovurd" newspaper report that Alen Simonyan has decided to include his longtime friends, NA MPs Khachatur Sukiasyan and Gurgen Arsenyan, in the delegation for the visit to Russia scheduled for October 3-6.
According to our information, since the invitation was personally extended to Alen Simonyan, he alone makes the decision on whom to travel with, and it has been decided not to include any opposition MPs in the delegation. Within the ruling power, Simonyan's decision is also considered peculiar, as it is strange that there are individuals in the delegation who are 'not in' these relations, purely going on an excursion to Moscow if such meetings could strengthen Armenian-Russian relations and accomplish something useful.
Incidentally, it is noted that within the framework of this visit, a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is also planned.
