Video: Increased Security Operations in Yerevan
On the evening of September 28, officers from the main department of the criminal police, the Yerevan city department, and subordinate units, along with patrol and traffic police, conducted enhanced security operations in the capital.
The police report that prior to the operation, the First Deputy Chief of Police Aram Hovhannisyan instructed the heads of the involved units, outlining the objectives of the special event: maintaining public order, ensuring road traffic safety, and preventing and detecting crimes and administrative offenses.
During the enhanced operation carried out in all administrative districts of Yerevan and on the access roads to the city, a total of 40 individuals were taken to police stations on various suspicions, and 5 were apprehended, with administrative proceedings initiated against 2 of them. Searches and inspections were conducted, resulting in the discovery of various types of firearms and weapons, including pistols, rifles, knives, and batons.
The operation also uncovered 9 cases of illegal drug trafficking, with different types of drugs being seized, including substances resembling heroin and methamphetamine. Additionally, lost license plates were found.
During the enhanced operation, preventive visits were made to more than 10 entertainment venues. We can confirm that the enhanced operation was effective. Such special measures will be conducted regularly.
